Sunday 22 April, Shropshire Youth Brass Band are performing at the St Georges Day Celebration with Shropshire District cubs and scouts in the Square, Shrewsbury.

Shropshire Youth Brass Band has toured extensively since their first tour of Sweden in 1979. In the summer of 2010 they toured in Belgium with performances in Antwerp, Brussels and Ypres.

The band is open to all brass and percussion players in full time education in Shropshire with an age range of 11-19. They rehearse on sixteen Saturday mornings throughout the school year.

The band will be performing for the Shropshire Young Musicians Parents and Helpers Organisation’s AGM on Saturday 18^th September.

In rehearsal

Shropshire Youth Wind Orchestra, Shropshire Youth Percussion Ensemble and Shropshire Girls Choir are visiting Le Touquet, France from July 23rd to 27th this year.

Shropshire Youth Brass Band are visiting LO, Belgium from 28th July to August 1st with performances in Antwerp, Brussels and Ypres.

The Shropshire Young Musicians Parents and Helpers Organisation will be holding its annual general meeting on Saturday September 18th at 1:00pm at Priory School, Shrewsbury.

Shropshire Youth Brass Band will be performing and there will be a presentation for parents on the develops in the work of the Shropshire Music Service.

Please try to support SYMPHO as they work throughout the year to support all young people in Shropshire who are involved in the Music Service bands, choirs, orchestras and other ensembles.

Shropshire’s young brass players meet with their older and more expert colleagues in Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury for a performance at 7:00pm on Monday July 12th.  The concert programme will include massed items and individual ensemble performances form the Shropshire Youth Brass Band and the Shropshire Training Youth Brass Ensemble.

Many of the Shropshire Music Service ensembles will be performing in concerts at the end of this term:

Shropshire Youth Training Wind Orchestra, Shropshire Youth Training Brass Ensemble and Shropshire Youth String Ensemble will all be performing at 12:00 noon in Shrewsbury Abbey on Saturday December 5th 2009.

The Stretton Stompers and Shropshire Youth Brass Band will perform at 2:00 pm in Shrewsbury Abbey on Saturday December 5th 2009.

Shropshire Youth Orchestra will perform with the Shropshire Training Youth Orchestra in concert at Shrewsbury Abbey at 7:00 pm on December 5th 2009.

The Shropshire Youth Brass Band will be performing at Hawstone Hall on Saturday 18th October as part of the ‘Apple Day’ events.

The Shropshire Music Service ‘School of Music’ made a very good start at the weekend of September 18th and 19th with an increase in numbers of young people playing in ensembles.  Dates for the next weekend rehearsals for the Autumn Term are:
